The Rebellion of Husten

Five years have passed since the emancipation of Warzone Space by The Three Pioneers and despite a series of conflicts in the ensuing power vaccum, a fragile peace has finally been settled. Tensions between nations are still high however and it is thought that only the slightest dispute is needed to set the region ablaze again...

The leaders Codger, Bangners, Riowood and assorted generals were discussing events at Codgergrad following unidentified attacks on Bangner's mountain stations.

"Just how serious is this threat?" asked Codger.

"They've pretty much taken over the whole city of Husten..." a general replied.

"Their numbers?" demanded Bangners.

"I - I don't know. To take over a city like Husten, which has 1.1 million citizens, would need a massive army."

"F**k..." . echoed a chorus through the room.

Husten is a major city in Warzone Airspace, located in the South East of the region, near the borders to Warzone Africa and and only a stone's throw away from Codgergrad. If Husten is taken, Codgergrad is surely next.

The general then showed the map of where he believed the Resistance's troops were located. The City of Husten had somewhat became their Headquarters, and there was reported attacks on smaller villages nearby.

"Our Intelligence believes that the Resistance may be supplied with troops from Warzone Africa and The New Galactic Empire" he said

"Did you say The New Galactic Empire?" Codger asked, his voice betraying a tinge of fear. He remembers the atrocities committed by that region, particularly their enslavement of the denizens of Warzone Asia and sending them as cannon fodder on suicidal human wave attacks.

"Yes"

Meanwhile, it was quiet at Codgergrad; it appeared the steady thump of bombs being dropped at nearby Husten has stopped. However the  reconnaissance plane, "Flying High" that was sent to investigate has not returned.

"Bangners", Riowood turned to him, "Do you know what happened to him? Let's hope it's not a sign of things to come"

"We received last transmission from it four hours ago flying over the desert. The pictures showed three small squadrons advancing rapidly towards the us."

Suddenly, the famed warrior Eternus Sacramentum burst into the room.

"They are outside! They must of sneak into the city under camouflage. They're attacking the main entrance as we speak, we can't hold them off much longer, there hundreds of them - We must evacuate now!"

General Redfern, a 5 star general from Riowood's nation stayed behind to defend the city, while the four leaders ran to the chopper in waiting. Soon they were flying towards the Federation of Eternus Sacramentum in the Far North, possibly the one country in Warzone Airspace where has been no sign rebelling yet. They landed and retreated to a bunker inside the Federation.

Bangners was tense. "Do we sit and wait it out or attack with those who are still loyal! I just received notification that just attacked my nation of Bangers too and...and we've just barely managed to hold our capital."

There was a beep. It was from Redfern. "It..it was terrible. We couldn't hold the Codgergrad, it's now being burnt to the ground. I shall not elaborate on the unspeakable horrors and massacres they did, we evacuated as many we could.  We are now moving to Bangers' nation to reinforce them there."

Eternus was surprisingly upbeat however, "Hell, I can now do something with my fighting boys. I don't think any of them want to live forever. Let's strike them where it hurts, at Husten where it this mess all started"

Codger was too distraught to speak but merely nodded. He knew liberating that city would weaken they morale that strongest, still having just seen his capital burn, he can not fathom how they were to take Husten. It was Riowood who chimed.

"Why not a bait and switch? Bangners, Redfern prepare your forces to flank Husten from the West. We need you to distract them while the Eternus Federation troops storms in capture it from the North."

And so that was the plan.

--------------

On the other side of the region, the nation of Jahohi is facing rebellion problems of it's own. New Galactic Empire forces have also infiltrated their territory and a trying to incite a revolt of the government there, attempting to rouse the disaffected slums. Martial law was declared and the city is under lock down.  Similar circumstances are occurring at neighbouring Libertepaix, where many people have began questioning the country's democratic ideals.

  2. Vindicus hummed to himself, watching over the presentation being shown to him by Supreme Commandant Gareth Venturez within his secluded, secured bunker half a mile beneath the capital, also named Vindicus. Apparently war was breaking out in...shocker...warzone Airspace. And what was being displayed in front of him were quick pictures taken by mock commercial airliners, well the few that didnt get shot down that is.

It became really interesting, to him at least. How battle drived their kindered souls here, how the gears of war seemed to always be in motion. Its why he was ever prepared, he's always been prepared to make the sacrafices for his country that could never have been made before. With their standing army of 4 million individuals and their small, highly trained airforce that utilized various expereimental and highly unethical weapons they were prepared if the conflict reached their front door. The civilians weren't to be evacuated they all served a startegic sinister purpose if any army occupied their cities, a very sinister one indeed.

However none of this was of concern to him, and he made this obvious to the Commandant as he finished up. "Commandant, with...all do respect this war could greatly effect us...if it were to near us, or if we were seemingly dragged in....however it may be...most profitable at this time. For us to play both sides...until we're forced to choose of course." Vindicus smiled softly, leaning back in his chair calmly.

"Yes sir, right away Sir. Ill leave communications open with all local nations, if any request anything of us, you'll know immediately" Gareth replied, giving a curt nod as he left the debrief room, to fufill his self assigned task. Of course with him leaving the room felt much more empty. I mean a seven and a half foot tall man who weighed near 400 pounds in muscle definitely took up space. Though thats where his value came in, thats where all their values came in. The experimentation made them capable of completing orders, and for officers some free thought but not enough to make their lives count. It was a method of control, everyone in his country was under his control, his marrionete, and him the puppeteer. "Quite soon, everything will be shaken up. Whether they want it or not"

  3. Meanwhile in the Sylarian capitol, New Foundry...

"Lord Marshal, the remaining officials have been relocated to the Longsword and are now safe, in orbit around the moon. But you..."

"I'll answer that question for you," interrupted Lord Marshal Sylar, "I will not leave this city..."

    "Yes, Excellency."

Just hours before, rebel forces from surrounding countries had crossed the border of Sylarus Prime and taken up positions around New Foundry. They had recently began bombarding the city with mortar fire. The Lord Marshall had hoped that this revolution would stay contained to the other nations, but he had made a rare mistake by sending aid to besieged nations. Now the war was on his doorstep.

The screen came to life and the inter-com crackled. "Gunnery Seargent Walker to High-command, HighComm, come in."

    "This is the Lord Marshall..."

"Yessir! Sorry to bother you Excellency... but rebel forces have captured the petroleum refinery on the outskirts of the city, do you wish to retake it at this moment?"

I guess this is as good a time as any to go green thought the Lord Marshall.

    "Yes, stand by for orders."

The Lord Marshall contacted the Justice Incarnate, a massive starship, the pride of the Sylarian Defense Forces.

"Deploy shocktroops via drop-pods in a circular pattern just outside the city, then instruct the Hand of God to launch its Albatross dropships loaded with Landshark MBT's in support of the jumpers."

Not since the defeat of the Insurrectionists during the Great War had Sylarus Prime fought in open warfare. However, times have changed, all the years spent building up the military have paid off. The Sylarian Defence Forces' proverbial "million-man army" had been mobilized. There were Sylarian Marines in every city, town, village, and outpost in Sylarus Prime, and another 20,000 in orbit, awaiting orders.

"HighComm to Delta-squad, Gunny, sit tight, shocktroops have been deployed. When I give the order, pull back to the Archives Building and begin loading important documents into the heavy choppers."

"With all due respect, Sir! Thats grunt work!"

    "You are a Sylarian Mari..."

Suddenly, a loud explosin shook the Citadel. The Lord Marshall alone kept his composure, he knew what the shockwave was, the powerful main guns of cruiser, the Katana, in geo-synch over New Foundry. The orbital bombardment had begun... Soon the rebel forces would be scattered like ants under the full might of the Sylarian Naval Space Command.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Two Days Later...

The S.P.S. Katana's bombardment went off without a hitch. The rebel's HQ in Sylarus Prime was wiped off the map. But things started going downhill after Trideka Corporation's refinery exploded, with 159 shocktroops inside. Morale took a hard blow, and the destruction of the Katana did little to help. Some how the rebels had gotten their hands on Surface-to-Air missiles and targeted the Katana. The heavily armored warship couldn't hold up to the sustained bombardment... Sylarian Marine Engineers are still picking up the debris.

"Lord Marshall, marines have retaken the city, but our forces in New Johansburg were wiped out, the city burns tonight. It seems that the main rebel forces were stationed in that area. Which would be okay if we still had orbital bombardment capabilities in the region. We are now forced to fight open warfare on the ground."

"Ah, Geherin, you have been a faithful advisor, but advisors are supposed to be wise," countered Lord Marshall Sylar, "we still have an immense technological advantage, and the ability to put troops nearly anywhere we choose."

"Lord Marshall, perhaps you underestimate our enemy?"

"Yes, perhaps I do, or perhaps I overestimate our forces, or perhaps I am right and you are wrong... I like the third option."

    "Y-Y-Yessir..."

"Calm down, Geherin, I am joking. Establish a link with the Federation, I have matters to discuss with the allied generals..."

  5. Hello again from the capital city of Jahodi,

I have managed to disband the legislative and judicial branches of my government and have instated myself has the President for Life. Public outcry was larger than expected, and there were a few protests in the capital and some rebellions in the more distant cities. The perpetrators of violence in the capital have been captured and taken care of, and I have sent out my troops to bring my cities back under control. As my troops are occupied with this task though, they will not be able to send help to the greater conflict. I can only wish that I had an army the size of the one The Federal Republic of Opsys controls, and uber-expensive gear, but as Jahodi is a small nation still and has only been established for a short while, I do not.

    Good Luck on the battlefields,
    President Golgavar
    _______________________________________________________________________________

OOC: And now another character, and my first attempt at an actual story…

Stryke had worked in sweltering clothing factories in Jahodi’s capital for as long as he could remember. The work was hard and the hours were terrible, but at least it put food on the table. It didn’t do too much besides that, and he and his family lived in one the slums that surrounded the city.

When the former President, current Dictator, Golgavar had overthrown the government and sided with the Fascist Warzone Airspace, Stryke was furious, like all other true Jahodians. Massive peaceful protests had been called all over the city, and although Stryke wanted to go to them, his mother had forbid him from going. She believed in the rumor about the Dictator of Riowood, and how he had murdered his own citizens who were protesting, and she feared the same would happen Jahodi. Although he was of the age where he could of left, he had respected her wishes, and stayed in the factory working on the machines. His father, always impatient, blew off his her suspicions as ridiculous however, and announced that he saw going to the capital building to teach Golgavar a lesson. Stryke had watched enviously as his father left the factory to join the growing ranks of protestors marching toward the Presidential Palace.

That was the last day he saw his father.

Stryke turned and looked out over the city, towards distant gunfire and burning slums, trying to hold back his emotions inside.

The army had shot those peacefully resisting the government, and the streets had run red with a river of blood. No one now doubted the rumors of the atrocities committed in the rest of the Warzone Airspace.
Stryke didn’t know how he was going to support his family without his father’s help, and if the current dictatorship would be overthrown, but he knew that from that day on, he would oppose the governments of the Warzone Airspace however he could…

  6. Federal Republic of OpsysNovember 23, 2010 at 10:25 PM

*Hope you guys don't mind but I write in present tense, I feel it adds to the atmosphere of the situation and I have a habit after 3 years of uni, if its a problem tell me*

  7. "Major General! Good news! Re-enforcments have arrived!."

"What?! It's about time! Which battalion?"

"They're not ours sir, mechs with the Opsys markings were deployed by a light-frigate at 1500 hours."

"Good, broadcast this message over all HyperMarine channels operating out of NJ: 'Sylarian Marines, now is the time, now is the time to take back our city, now is the time to take a stand for what you believe in, now is the time to make it stop, so that we do not have to fight another Great War!'"

Seconds later, the marines heard the engines of a whole squadron of Falcons.

"Marine Ground-Command, New Johansburg division, this is Caption Rawlings, third Air Corps Close-Air Support Division... I am proud to say that gunships are on station."

Every marine left heard the orders: "Weapons are hot, begin target aquisition, but watch those mechs, they're on our side."

H*llDarts slammed into the countryside behind the rebel side of New Johansburg. With the rebels besieged on both sides, they slowly gave up ground until they were no more.

    _____________________________________________________

    New Foundry, 2358 hours

The Lord Marshall recieved the news well, New Johansburg had been retaken, with heavy casualties.

"I did not expect outside help, but it is well recieved... Contact codename: FRO, make sure they know that we owe them a favor."

    "Yes Lord Marshall."

"It is time to make our intentions known, to everybody. Never again will our borders be breached, and to make sure this happens we need to make sure that this revolution is put down... We should be experts at that by now. So, by mandate of the First Lord Marshall of the Armed Republic of Sylarus Prime, every physically fit man between the ages of 17-30, and every childless woman between those same ages are to be forcibly conscripted into the Sylarian Defense Forces, I also mandate that the Justice Incarnate and her fleet be mobilized to the regions in the north to aid our allies who are also afflicted by rebel forces. So say I, so say we all."

  8. Far above the battlefields of Warzone Airspace, the Justice Incarnate and her fleet orbit the planet...

Fleet-Admiral Rodger Briggs had achieved his life's goal, command of a starship. Somehow, he had been given command of a whole fleet. He sat in the command chair of the Justice Incarnate, a viewscreen in front of him showed the whole region below, he could see the lifesigns of every inhabitant of Warzone Airspace, he felt like a god.

"Admiral," said his yeoman, "Sir, incoming transmission."

    "Put it on the big-screen."

    "Aye sir."

The massive holo-screen blurred to life, it was the Lord Marshall himself.

"Excellency, this is an unexpected honor."

"Can it, Briggs, you act the same way you did when we were in boot camp, always brown-nosing. But there are more important matters to discuss. I order the fleet to mobilize, have every marine prepare to be deployed planetside, and start charging the main gun's capacitor bank, we may need it soon."

    "Yes Excellency."

    The message disappeared abruptly...

    "Sir! Incoming bogeys!"

    "All ships, scramble fighters!"

    "Those aren't fighters, they're missiles."

"Missiles? Give the orders, evasive maneuvers! Have the fighters that are already out fly intercept, bring down those arrows if possible."

    "Brace for impact!"

The first of the missiles slammed into the ship, making barely a scratch. These missiles would have no effect on the massive ship, but smaller ships were in danger.

    "Ensign, sit-rep!"

Just as the crewman was about to answer, a blinding flash off the port side interrupted him. A shockwave shook the vessel, and non-critical systems were briefly disabled.

"We have nuclear detonation! We're fine, minimal damage to point-defense auto-cannons and sensor arrays, but we are recieving reports that nine frigates, the cruiser Jonathan Frakes, and 30% of spacebourne fighters were lost or disabled."

"D*mn! The resistance fighters could not have had this capability! Will ground forces be affected?"

"No sir, this was an advanced warhead, tactical, the radiation should be localized, and the EMP was redirected to us, but the buffers defeated most of it, so only non-critical systems were lost, but only for seconds."

"Good. Communications, relay all data the Lord Marshal on secure channels, priority code Sierra-Romeo 1-Niner."

    "Aye."

"Admiral," said the sensor technician, "scanners indicate that the radiation signatures... they are consistant with uranium and cobalt mined from the New Galactic Empire..."

"So they gave the Resistance this weapon?"

"Yessir, the missiles were generic, but that warhead was definately not theirs..."

    "Things are changing, too fast..."

Sylarian Naval Space Command had taken a blow, but it was superficial. Frigates and cruisers can be replaced, but the men they lost could not. Later that day, the Lord Marshall commanded that the fleet be relocated to outside lunar orbit. Orbital bombardment was out of the question, but it was okay, factories had just completed production on the Peregrin Hypersonic Stealth Bomber, its accuracy made it a close second to orbital bombardment.
